When you find yourself, poolside or beachfront in Punta Mita, and then discover you’re only a 15 minute drive from a change of scenery in the form of a whimsical bohemian surf town…you get in the taxi and go! In our last post we wrote about what we saw and ate in Sayulita, and now we’re moving onto the topic of style—what we wore and where we shopped.
Sayulita in mid June is H O T with 100% humidity most days. Thus, swimsuit cover-ups as dresses, light and flow-y fabrics, and comfortable sandals are essential.
Hats are also a must. We were IN LOVE with our custom “sparkle + toast” sequin embroidered sun hats, handmade by Hats by Olivia. These hats are amazing quality and we got so many compliments! The best part? They are fully customizable. The pom pom trim fit right in on the streets of Sayulita!
As we started to look around the local shops we fell in love with one store in particular called Revolución Del Sueño. As soon as you walk in, you’re embraced by splashes of bright color and textures against crisp white walls and a flood of natural light. Talk about great merchandising! In the store, you’ll find a mix of pop art prints, clothing & accessories, and even home decor pieces such as pillows, woven rugs, and other textiles. Most of their items are from A Mano Project which brings the talents and techniques of local Mexican artisans to consumers like us! How wonderful to support towns with such amazing art and culture!
We spent hours in the store mesmerized by all the products, talking to the employees and of course taking pictures 😉 Actually, we made two stops: Round one to check everything out, and then we came back for round two to scoop up everything we couldn’t leave without, like the amazing oversized straw bags with woven details we featured in this blog post! Can’t wait to return to Sayulita to sip on fresh coconut milk and wander these magical streets again!
